The final statement of the Arab Forum of Young Entrepreneurs Associations

In conclusion to the Third Working Meeting which took place in Casablanca, Morocco, from 25 July to 28 July 2002 and in completion of the process which started in Jordan and was launched in Lebanon and on behalf of the whole Forum of Arab Young Entrepreneurs Associations, we thank the Union of SMEs/SMIs and Young Entrepreneurs of Morocco for their hospitality and thank them for the good preparations which made us feel we were in our second home. Also, we thank the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for their assistance and support of this Forum.

With regards to the results of this Third Working Meeting it can be summarised as follows:

I. Structure of the Forum (network or institution) It was agreed Ø that the Forum of Arab Young Entrepreneurs Associations would continue in its present form as a network in accordance to the agreement in Jordan, Lebanon and Tunis. Ø that a legal study would be carried out to investigate the possibility of transforming the Forum (note of the translator: Arabic text speaks of Union, meant is Forum) into a registered institution. A four-member committee was selected to carry out this study and to present its results to the members of the Forum (see note of the translator) as soon as possible after which the final decision will be taken regarding the transformation of the Forum into an institution or its continuation as a network.
This committee consists of:1.        Union SME/SMI and Young Entrepreneurs from Morocco (Union PME/PMI et Jeunes Entrepreneurs du Maroc) 2.        Young Entrepreneurs Association (YEA) (Jordan) 3.        The Founding Committee of the Libyan Young Entrepreneurs Association 4.        The Association of Mauritanian Entrepreneurs (AJEM Association des Jeunes Entrepreneurs Mauritaniens)

II. The Website The Forum thanks YEA and YEP for their efforts in creating portals to support the efforts of the Forum. It was agreed to create a three-member committee under the presidency of ISTE with the membership of YEA and YEP to combine efforts made by the two associations to create a unified website by 1st September 2002.The Forum decided in unanimity that as of now the final declaration would be signed and distributed to all delegations at the end of every meeting. No individual representation of the Forum by any member of the Forum without prior consent from all members of the Forum.

III. The meeting MDF4 in October 2002 Ø The aim of the participation of the Arab Young Entrepreneurs Associations in this meeting is to highlight the important role of the Forum in supporting and developing the capacities of Arab Young Entrepreneurs and SMEs in the Arab World Ø The Forum decided to announce the launch of a unified website/portal during the MDF4 meeting (the Fourth Mediterranean Forum for Development)To work on involving more national young entrepreneurs associations from other Arab countries, which share the same objectives.

IV. Organisation of future meetings Unanimity on the mechanism to set future meetings according to the following principles:Ø Previous preparation and sending of invitations (at least 3 months ahead of the date)Ø Quick reaction by the other associations on invitations sentØ Transparency of fundingØ Arranging meetings between the participating associations and local entrepreneurs of the hosting countryØ The official language is Arabic
